Before and Afters...

The reason for my absence last week from our blog was due to our trip to work on our house in Olney. As many of you know we are in the process of remodeling our home and the first stage is the kitchen and the front/spare bedroom. There will be pictures of that in the next blog because my pics are so large. Back to last week. Jake's mom and dad, my mom, Gloria, David and Ashley all were a part of working on our house. The ladies painted the ENTIRE house which was a huge job seeing as though the previous owner had used lime green and electric yellow in several rooms! While the ladies were painting the boys worked on the bathroom and got it much further than it was at the beginning of the week. Let's just say that older homes are definitely built much sturdier than those of today and that caused some setbacks in getting tile up! We were planning on getting sheet rock hung and taped and bedded but we had a change of plans due to some electrical outlets that we are getting put in. That should be done within the next couple of weeks and then once we get back to Olney in September we can get the kitchen underway. The last project we had while we were there was to try and restore the bedrooms hardwood floors. After a day and a half of sanding, cleaning and varnishing the floors didn't turn out like we had hoped so we are going to have to put carpet back down. I am actually not so upset about this because I personally like having carpet in bedrooms and I also think that it will be best for Katelynn because she loves to sit and read books in her room. Okay, enough typing below are the first round of before and after pics!

Before of dining room. Check out that awesome chandelier that is original to the house!

After: we painted the top half of the room in the color that is in our living room and the bottom in a chocolate brown. We purchased chair railing but ran out of time so picture a chair rail in between the two colors.

This is the before of half of the living room. This is a really long room.

After: we painted with a color called Lindhurst. Look at those floors!!!!
